Prenatal Fitness

It's been awhile since my last post. My family and I have been super busy preparing for the holidays.

Although the I am more than half way through this pregnancy I gain 4 pounds in a MONTH! That may not be much to some but at that rate I would have been a cow by the time I reached my due date 😂.

When I had my daughter (my first child) I started at 125 and by the time I had her I was 157. I'm only 5"1 so that's huge on my short stature. It took me a year to get back down to 130 where I was at least comfortable. So this time around I figured prevent gaining the weight and I won't have to work as long to get the weight back off.

After passing my glucose test at the doc (hence the above pic with my hubby) and learning about my weight gain I started monitoring my calorie intake and quality of the food I was/am eating. I also started doing prenatal workouts that I would find on YouTube or other blogs.

I've been doing an awesome job and I've found that the more I research prenatal hfitness and nutrition the more determined I am to keep going. Another thing that I am really and literally praying I can do it breast feed. With my daughter I tried to breast feed for about a month but she would not latch on so I was stuck pumping which caused me sever back pain and I also wasn't producing enought milk for her big appetite.

I'm becoming more confident that this time around weight gain won't be a problem and prayerfully neither will breastfeeding.

Baby shower planning

How far along: 22 weeks
Gender: BOY
Weight Gain: 6 lbs.

Miss anything: Since my eating and sleeping have pretty much gone back to normal I'm not really missing much at this point.
Cravings: Salad with ranch dressing, which is weird because typically I don't like ranch ;)
Looking forward to: Finishing the new nursery and the baby shower.

SPEAKING of BABY SHOWER........

I have officially started planning the baby shower. I've decided to go with green, navy blue, and white for the colors and alligator for the theme. I've found an awesome venue, which we also used for my baby shower when I was pregnant with my daughter.

Here is a preview of the invitations for the shower //

I have also been glued to pinterest looking at all of the cute little alligator themed party ideas. These are a few of my personal favs that I might incorportate into our baby shower.

Girl... or... Boy...?

On Halloween day we found out that we are having..... A BOY!!!! I am so excited to do everything all over again. In the beginning I was less than excited about the long 9 months ahead but by the grace of God I got over being so nauseous and miserable.

We were going to do something special to reveal the sex of the baby but we were just to excited to hold it in, plus all of our family member hounded us down // although it didn't take much hahaha.

Since I found out we will be welcoming Darryl Jr. into the world I haven't stopped adding things onto the baby registry. I've decided on a simple theme for his nursery// Green, White, Navy and Grey are the colors I decided on with little accents of alligators.

If any of my family and friends would like to start shopping for our bundle of joy I have registered us at Target. It should be listed under 'Jasmine Brooks' or if they ask for my email its 'jasmine.brooks7@aol.com'.

Next big thing on my to do list is setting up for the baby shower. Please comment below if you would like an invitation.

Fall Fun

How far along: 20 weeks (tomorrow)
Gender: We find out the sex of the baby on Friday...YAY!
Weight Gain: 6 lbs.

Miss anything: Since my eating and sleeping have pretty much gone back to normal I'm not really missing much at this point.
Cravings: Watermelon with salt mmmm.
Looking forward to: Halloween with Jayani and the gender ultrasound.

In other exciting news my dad got us our 1st grill so Darryl and I have had fun putting it together and cooking.

Also we had a pumpkin carving contest at my moms house with my daughter and my niece. Of course the carving of the pumpkins was suppose to be for the kids and it turned into an all out contest between me, Darryl, and my mom. Needless to say I WON the contest hands down :) The winner got a free carmel apple pie from Perkins. Lucky for Darryl when I pick up my prize I plan on sharing it with him.

BIG NEWS....for those who don't know

Afternoon everyone// I have some big news for those of you who don't know. Darryl and I are expecting our second child!!!! I will be 19 weeks on Thursday, so I thought it might be fun and interesting to share about this pregnancy.

How far along: 19 weeks
Gender: We get to find out the sex of the baby on Halloween day! We are keeping the gender a secret until I figure out a fun way to do the reveal - suggestions please!
Weight Gain: 5 lbs.

Miss anything: NOT feeling bloated!!! I feel bloated after I eat, drink, breath....pretty much all hours of the day.
Cravings: The nausea that I experienced for the first 12 weeks is pretty much gone :) now I've been eating creamy Parmesan salad dressing on veggies and salads for like a week straight lol. I've also been having a taste for fried chicken or fish but lucky for my body I've been unable to get my hands on any.
Looking forward to: Finding out the gender and taking Jayani to a church fun house.

My newest goal is to TRY and eat a bit healthier this pregnancy. My goal weight gain is only 147. When I had Jayani I went from 125 to 157 so needless to say it was hard to get that much weight off. Eventually I made my way back down to 130 and was able to maintain weight at about 132. Wish me luck on this endeavor :)

*I will also try to start posting belly pics every few weeks

1st blog post!!!

Afternoon everyone.....

I've been wanting to start a blog for awhile now just to give me something to do during my daughters nap time. So for my first post I suppose it's only fitting to tell you guys about me and my family.

I am a 23 year old wife and mommy. I have one beautiful, funny, and BOSSY two year old daughter. Her name is Jayani (jay-on-ee), her name means victorious one and girl with a beautiful smile. My husband's name is Darryl, he is 24 and a proud graduate of Drake University (Go Hawkeyes lol).

The majority of my posts will be about my....um....."interesting" family.
